Villa Borghese Gardens
Address:
Rome (Roma)
Italy IT (Italia)
The word 'villa' literally translated means 'suburban estate' - the kind once created by the ancient Romans and enjoyed by the wealthy. North of central Rome, the splendid Villa Borghese Gardens are a spreading park that was part of the pleasure gardens originally designed and landscaped during the 17th century by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, nephew to Pope Paul V.
Rome's Villa Borghese Gardens have changed significantly over the years and have been completely redesigned, now appearing less formal and more natural. The park contains a number of Rome's most impressive tourist attractions, including the Galleria Borghese, the Piazzo di Siena amphitheatre, the Botanical garden on Via, Rome's Giardino Zoologico (Zoological Gardens) and a movie theatre for children, at the Viale delle Belle entrance of Rome's Villa Borghese Gardens.
